Thanks for the insight! I wonder if the similarities show because each of those stories were written not to be mere stories, but to try to impart some bit of understanding as well.

I'll finish up my SF piece and let you read it, if you'd like. I wonder now how stylistically different it is, though I don't want to dwell on the thought because it definitely has it's own voice so far and I'd hate to taint it. (As goofy as that sounds, I think you'll understand what I mean...)

The Hall of Mirrors story is very well-written and very readable.

There is distinct style here and you operate within it with great ease. I see similarities with your 'Boy in the Window' story but they are difficult to pin down. My attempt would be to say that the writing retains a classic fairy-tale 'vibe' with an essence of the verbal story-telling tradition thrown on.
